Annual King celebration holds a special significance in 2009

  Augustana College and the community will gather Jan. 17 for a celebration honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The annual tribute hosted by the college  will begin at 7 p.m. in Centennial Hall.
  "This year is unique in that we are attempting to link Dr. King's dream to the reality of a Barack Obama presidency," said Mark Anderson, Augustana assistant dean of students and director of diversity services. (more)

14th Hispanic Film Festival

  The 14th Annual Hispanic Film Festival will play on four consecutive Thursdays Jan. 15-Feb. 5.
  "These films would not be otherwise viewed in the Quad-Cities,"  said organizer Dr. Jeanneth Vasquez. She said the films will challenge students with issues that may be new to them. (more)

Class of 2013 visiting Jan. 24 for a closer look at Augustana

    Jan. 24 will be a big day for some 350 young people who will jam classrooms and halls at Augustana College for the annual Open House and Scholarship Competition.
    Some will be on campus for the first time, trying to take in everything at once. Others visited last summer or fall. They may already know which professors they want to talk with for a more detailed picture of majors, coursework and possibilities.
    All will be taking one more opportunity to imagine themselves at Augustana. They’ll go home also hoping to be one of those to win a $1,000 scholarship, renewable for four years. (more)

Yes, he's a two-time All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin football player, a first-team American Football Coaches Association Division III All-American and recently became Augustana College's 126th academic All-American.
