  • Professional Learning Communities create a paradigm shift in the way professional educators continue to learn. We have made great progress in our classrooms to actively engage our students in learning using multiple levels of intelligence. We ask the essential questions; we guide students in inquiry and response; we hold our students accountable for their learning. The development of a Professional Learning Community stems from the need to create a learning environment where these conditions hold true for our professional educators.

In this year-long course, we will develop a Professional Learning Community with a focus on the professional development needs of primary teachers in the Northeastern Pennsylvania area. Integrating technology as a resource and means of communication and sharing, we will meet face to face on a monthly basis. The course will involve active teachers, referred to as Community Members, and a facilitator.
